‘Over the 5 years I have been living in Darwin I have travelled the road to Katherine and beyond many times. The old bonnet is a reference to this journey, it is a vehicle to view the landscapes and birds.
I enjoyed painting on this bonnet, the colour palette of the Northern Territory can be found upon its surface the scrape marks, rust and dirt provides the perfect medium to start forming the fires and the harsh dry terrain accompanied by the tropical storms of the build up.’
